Data Methodology
Prescription Data Source
The Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency) is mandated by section 408.062(1)(h), Florida Statutes (F.S.), to provide transparency in health care by offering Florida consumers information about retail prices of pharmacies for the 300 most dispensed drugs. The Agency shall make available on its website drug prices for a 30-day supply at the indicated dose.
On a monthly basis, the Agency pulls the 300 most dispensed drugs list by total number of paid Florida Medicaid claims per National Drug Code (NDC). The NDCs are limited to Managed Care Organization (MCO) and Fee for Service (FFS) paid claims for fully enrolled pharmacies and exclude controlled substances.

The pharmacies listed on the website are those that dispensed at least one of the 300 most dispensed drugs to a consumer receiving Medicaid assistance to purchase that medication. These pharmacies are required to provide the State of Florida with their “usual and customary” pricing, which is also known as the retail price and does not include any discounts.
Collection of this data is accomplished through a contract between the Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency) and Magellan Rx, a Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM), in the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Program (SMMC). This data includes the most purchased prescriptions in the state of Florida and provides the pharmacy name, location, medication, usual and customary price, and unique identifiers such as National Drug Codes (NDC).
The State of Florida gathers prices based on claims submitted and provided by PBMs, who maintain a network of contracts with pharmacies. Prescription drug prices may vary from day-to-day. The price you find at your pharmacy may not be the same price that appears on this website. The prices quoted here are only meant to help you compare prices at different pharmacies and are not a guaranteed price. To find your exact price, please contact the pharmacy using the pharmacy information provided.
Source: The results shown on this website are posted as prices reported from PAID claims for the National Drug Code (NDC). A pharmacy must have FULL enrollment with Florida Medicaid reported and certified by Florida Medicaid. Additional information may be found at:
